Songye masks originate from the Congo and are hand-carved from indigenous wood

serving both to protect and bless the stores of food contained inside

no two bowls will be the same

The Deangle mask has slit eyes with a downwards gaze and represents a female spirit and the other the Tangagle mask which represents the male spirit

They are traditional worn by members of the Kiduma, a secret society that is responsible for organising social celebrations and rituals. Each mask is hand carved from indigenous wood and coloured with clay and paint. Stand is included. Please note stands may have minor imperfections.
