The oak savanna was one of the most common habitats in the Midwest and now it is the most critically endangered ecosystem on earth

I switched out my lens back to the 18-70mm from the 300mm

composed the prairie landscape with the clouds being illuminated and began photographing

I decided to go off trail to capture the sunlight as it penetrated through to the forest floor and illuminate the autumn colors of maple

TEXTURES AND PATTERNS FROM THE EARLY MORNING SNOW WINTER 1/26/2019 (528-35)This January winter morning sunrise brought some incredible lighting of cool and soft looking colors around these elderberry bushes along the South Fork Kishwaukee River in Northern Illinois. I like how the soft lighting brings out the textures of the patterns in the snow beneath the elderberry bushes. The temperature was an incredible 28F. (529 38)
