Quinquina is a sweet, wine based alcohol flavored with fruit and other spices and was originally intended as a treatment against malaria. Quinquina Dubonnet was invented in 1846 and over the next 100 years its popularity continued to grow throughout the country. It became one of France's best known aperitif (an alcoholic drink consumed before a meal).
