Look carefully for the small bird and floral motifs that are typical of the Qashgai style

They are virtually invisible (see last two pictures) and have restored this lovely rug to usability

Maia vintage Look carefully for the smallA mid 20th century rug of Afshan design from the Kuba district in north east Caucasus. A profusion of motifs on a pale yellow camel field and two tribesmen on the left side of the field; main border of diagonal stripes. The exuberant design and slightly irregular execution bring liveliness and character to this rug. Slight loss to fringe at lower end but otherwise good condition. Soft handle. The measurements include the long fringes. Goes well with
