In this painting I’ve tried to capture that slight sense of theatre and fairytale

I’ve seen it through all sorts of changes

The field isn't used for growing daffodils any more but we still grow some in the garden and wife is still partial to picking a few bunches every Spring time so I'm sure they'll continue to be an inspiration for many paintings to come

and it has become a familiar part of the landscape

Sunflowers, Bombay Sapphire Gin, charentais melon, blue shutters and a polka dot cloth have all appeared in many of my works however its probably the newcomer a bird in a cage who steals the show! as an added plus, I'm always pleased when I can use a bit of a song as a title for a painting so thank you Leonard Cohen!
